Exorcising ghosting

This is not a victim impact statement. This is a cautionary PSA.

The quality of talent available in the market right now is unprecedented. So many capable people, affected by economic uncertainty and change. More redundancies are to come, despite business optimism being on the rise and interest rates dropping. Job applicant numbers are already at an historic high. A quick word of caution for hiring managers and recruiters - avoid Ghosting at all costs.

Ghosting has no place in relationships, no place in business, and certainly no place in job applications. Rejection is hard, but it provides clarity, even if it is not accompanied with a explanation, as would be optimal in a perfect world. The stories I am hearing of highly qualified and experienced professionals - including close personal friends of mine - being completely ignored blow my mind. These people will be in the hiring hotseat again, and soon, and they will remember how they were treated, by you personally and by your organisation. This will have an unfathomable impact on your reputation and the company's EVP - it's in your hands to decide if that's a good or bad reputation.

If you need support, The Scott Collective can help. You will see the value in time.

Don't be a Casper. It's not just about common decency - it's about good business.
